Sri Lanka Travel – Elephants

I have recently returned from an absolutely amazing two month trip that took me to Sri Lanka where we meandered the south western coast for three weeks. Following that was an exploration of Bali and its surrounding islands for another six weeks.

About halfway through our time in Sri Lanka we made a collective decision to pull ourselves away from the beach and venture in and up land to what we referred to as the “hills”. This turned out to be a worthy excursion… Along the way we came across some beautiful elephants lazily grazing the perimeter of their National Park in search of tourists, and locals alike, whom the elephants know will be eagerly vying for their attention with offerings of sugarcane and peanuts.

Here are some photos of those stunning creatures.
