Victoria BC Family Photography – Potter Family

Babies change SO much in the first months of their lives. When my son was two weeks old we had a photographer come do a newborn session for us. Four weeks later, I looked back at those photos and I couldn’t believe how much he had already grown. I wanted to do another photo shoot ASAP! LOL.

Although doing a professional family photography session every month of your child’s life isn’t necessarily an option for most families, 😉 it IS important to at least document your baby’s life at one of their many stages.

Now that I have a baby myself, I understand that with all the crazy changes that happen in such a short amount of time, time seems to fly by and it’s almost hard to remember certain things that just happened a couple weeks prior. For the first two months of my son’s life, he really disliked being burped. He would make the most hilarious disgruntled face every time I had to burp him. Although he still doesn’t enjoy being burped, he accepts that it has to happen, hah, and doesn’t make that ridiculous face anymore. I’m so happy I have photos of that ‘burp face’ to remind myself, and to show him when he’s older (BTW, I’ll post a photo of it on instagram so you all can see).

The adorable babe from this Victoria BC family photography session’s name is Theo. He was four months old when we did this session. A baby may not be very mobile at four months old, so you may be wondering what you do in a family photography session for a baby at that age? For what their legs may lack in mobility to allow them to explore their world, their eyes make up for in visual exploration. Quite simply, we hang out and capture your sweet family as you are, documenting all your babe’s many expressions (like indignant burp faces ;)).

Theo’s expressions were all super charming and adorable. My favourite photo from this Victoria BC family photography session is near the end, when Theo’s mom, Julia, is holding him just before he’s going down for his nap. He’s looking up at her with such a sweet expression of love and adoration. I think Theo will be grateful to have these photos of his family when he’s older.
